There’s several of these 541’s available that may be of interest, one on the West Coast,. one in Florida, and this one in Wrightsville Beach NC.  The North Carolina vessel featured below is my choice of the best one available due to: her $625k price, 589  hours, it’s many options

  • Upgraded QSM-11 Zeus Drive System w/ Skyhook ($88,000-option)
  • Complete Engine Service -Generator-Pods (2017)
  • Upgraded Onan 23KW Generator
  • Upgraded High Gloss Teak Tables throughout
  • Hydraulic Swim Platform

, and her condition.  If you were thinking of a Pilothouse model, please take a look at this vessel, and see if perhaps she does the trick. You gain a much newer boat, with way more space, and speed, for the same kind of money than a 580 Pilothouse.. Something to think about, unless you were planning to do the Loop. You can get to Chicago from the Atlantic Ocean (including the Erie Canal) on this model but you’re not going to make it under the fixed bridge there in Chicago which has a 17′ clearance. These boats take 24′. That said, the view from Chicago down to Kentucky is rather horrible. Cruising Speed: 25 knots
Maximum Speed: 35 knots

Meridian retired the Pilothouse series in 2008 and replaced it with this model for a very good reason. Please look at this drawing closely. What you see is a design, due to the invention of the Zeus Drive, (which is a drive system with no prop shafts, struts or rudders), allowing the engines to be placed well aft. The room normally spent for an Engine Room is now used for stateroom and maintenance space. The area that would had been the pilothouse on the old models is now a huge lounge, complete with couches. The view is incredible.  The area that used to be the whole salon en-toto of the old series, now has a dinette (something the Meridian 540 didn’t have at all),  the galley was moved aft, next to the entrance. The whole glass divider that separates the cockpit from the salon drops with the touch of a button. There’s even two bar stools in the cockpit overlooking the galley. Just a fun boat. The flybridge has a hardtop, another huge lounging space, with a spectacular view.  When these vessels first came out, I thought surely they had to be top heavy, being so tall, but my concerns were allayed by rides in the ocean running with big beam sea’s. The boat ran straight with no lean at all.  The Zeus Drives turn independently of each other allowing the vessel to be moved sideways with the Joy Stick. You literally can put these boats exactly where you want them with just the stick. The SKY HOOK option allows the GPS to place the boat exactly where you want it, . No need to anchor or even tie up, as long as the engines are running, it will stay put. I’m sure many of you have noticed this is how the Cruise Ships position themselves in the Cayman Islands without anchors.   Pretty cool.

There’s a great review at Boattest.com on these vessels.

The Zeus Drives. No rudders, no struts, no shafts to get out of balance or alignment.

The Zeus drives. Also note the swim platform that raises and lowers hydraulically .

The Italian builders and Hinckley are so proud of their “disappearing bulkhead” on their boats that cost way over a million dollars, yet Meridian has it too. For half the price.

WOW, or what?!

READY TO CRUISE!!!!!

Absolutely beautiful boat and the best layout ever!

She is ready to go.

The 541 Sedan  is powered by upgraded Cummins diesels with Zeus pod drives, one of the most technically advanced propulsion systems in the world. So at 54 feet in length the 541, with its twin independently articulated Zeus pod drives, feels effortlessly maneuverable and intuitive to control.

Impeccably designed living spaces and sleeping quarters create a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere onboard. The three-stateroom, two-head layout provides berths for six passengers, while a convertible dinette can accommodate two more. The gracious comforts inside are mirrored in the 541’s exterior spaces, as well: The aft cockpit blends seamlessly with the adjacent galley, while the flybridge with full-cover hardtop provides seating, refreshments and entertainment for family and friends.

This is a One Owner meticulously maintained yacht that is on a managed maintenance and cleaning schedule.  All engine work done by the same authorized Cummins Dealer with every service interval done as required.

Walkthrough

The aft deck and lounge is accessible through molded steps with hand rail or on either side of the aft bulkheads. Spacious seating for 6 people with a custom teak dining table provide a luxurious atmosphere for entertaining family and friends.  Two bar stools up against a hydraulic window allow convenient access to the galley for serving food and drinks.  Against the stairway leading up to the bridge is an ice maker and additional storage for dock lines and fenders.  The cockpit has a full Strataglass and Canvas cover completely enclosing the area to the weather elements. A removable Flat screen TV is located above the bar stools facing the lounge seating.

Access to the bridge is up a molded staircase with Stainless Steel safety rails.  The bridge features a hardtop with Eisenglass and Canvas enclosure with seperate AC and Heating system.  A carpeted runner lines the deck.  The aft section of the bridge is an L shaped lounge with a custom teak coffee table and cup holders.  The mid-section is a U shaped bar with ice maker and entertainment item storage. A removable Flat Screen TV sits opposite of the lounge.  Forward to the starboard is the helm area and opposite is additional seating for guests  (see Helm section for full list of Electronics).

Access to the salon through a Stainless Steel sliding glass door with safety catch.  Immediately to the left is the full galley (see Galley section for full description) and to the right is the dining table with comfortable seating for 6 people. Looking forward, there is panoramic viewing of your surroundings through forward and side windows.  The salon is highlighted with courtesy and recessed overhead lighting and teak and cherry wood valances and cabinetry.  The entire vessel is carpeted with tan runners.  Two steps lead up to the forward lounge area featuring an impressive entertainment center with recessed flat screen TV.  Two pull out couches and a recliner center around a beautiful ottoman table.

A carpeted spiral staircase leads down to the lower foyer.  The Distribution panel is conveniently located here to control the systems power.  Overhead and courtesy lighting highlight the lower foyer and halls.  The washer and dryer are located behind a cabinet immediately at the end of the stairway.  Looking aft is the entrance to the Master stateroom.  The master features a private head, handing lockers, office space with seating, and a Flat Screen TV.  The full size bed has convenient tree sided access situated offset in the room to aid in opening up the living space.  Windows on either side of the room provide plenty of ambient lighting in addition to creating a much larger feeling for the master stateroom.

Moving forward, a guest berth with over under bunks is situated across from the guest head.  A hanging locker and cabinetry provide ample storage for clothing and the usual boat gear.

The forward VIP berth features a queen size bed and entertainment system with Flat Screen TV.  Hanging lockers and cabinetry surround the room.  A moon roof with sliding blackout shade is directly above the bed.

All staterooms have individual AC & Heating controls, HD TV’s and entertainment systems.
